Privacy Policy

Introduction

At Anotely, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how we handle data when you use the browser extension. We want you to know what is stored, where it stays, and what we never collect.

Data collection and storage

Everything stays on your device via Chrome’s local storage. We do not send your notes, highlights, or annotations to our servers or anyone else.

Stored locally:

  • Notes and annotations — text, positions, colors
  • URLs of pages where you added annotations
  • Your preferences (e.g. colors and styles)

No account required

No sign-up, email, or personal details are required. Install the extension and use it without creating an account.

Permissions

The extension needs permissions to work as expected: storage, active tab, scripting, context menus, and host access so you can annotate on sites you visit. We do not use these permissions to track browsing or harvest page content.

Third parties, security, and your data

Third-party services

We don’t use analytics, ads, or trackers — no cookies or pixels for tracking.

Security

Your notes live in Chrome’s local storage under your browser’s security model. We cannot access them from our side.

Deleting data

Remove notes in the extension anytime. Uninstalling clears data according to Chrome’s process; you can also clear site data in Chrome settings.

Children

Anotely is not aimed at children under 13. We don’t collect personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page and the “Last updated” date. Check back occasionally for the latest version.
